Knox College's Delta Chapter of Illinois initiates its first members into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society on Founders Day, February 15, 1917 in Beecher Chapel. Edwin Grosvenor (standing, left), a historian from Amherst College, presents the chapter charter to Knox College professor William Raub (standing, right), president of the Knox chpater. Knox College President Thomas McClelland stands between the two. Students receiving their pins (seated) are: Margaret Anderson, John Clark, Charlotte Muschott, Wilbur Pearce, Sidney Simpson, Thomas Studley, Edna Wristen. Miss Helen D. Painter, Knox College faculty, is also seated. The men standing behind the students are: John L. Conger (Knox faculty), James A. Campbell (Knox faculty), Dean of the College Charles M. Poor, Rev.
