Anderson UTI VAR HAGE Folkvisa (*) Specially composed for the 1992 Convention by Annetta Anderson. Annetta Anderson Writes '92 Song Our Song and Our Joy, an original composition by Annetta Anderson, has been chosen as the winner of the competition for a brand new piece in honor of the AUSS' 100th Anniver-sary. As such, the piece will be per-formed by the full Mixed chorus at next year's Grand Concert. The panel of judges included Direc-tor- in-Chief Bob Read, Assistant Di-rector- in-Chief Carl Johansen, two AUSS Honorary Directors-in-Chief — Wayne Spies and Bernhardt Westlund, Robert Nelson, assistant director of the Chicago Swedish Glee Club and Ray Helgeson, 1992 Convention music chairman. The concept for an original com-position in honor of the AUSS' Cen-tennial was Read's idea, and the judges felt that Annetta's music and lyrics best fulfilled the guidelines that Read (Continued on page 2) Prepare Musically For Chicago Now! With Labor Day behind us, it's back-to-singing time for all AUSS choruses. This is particularly true with our 100th Anniversary Convention coming up in Chicago next July. At left is the Grand Concert pro-gram expertly crafted by Director-in- Chief Bob Read with the help of his two assistants, Janet Howland and Carl Johansen, and with the advice of the Chicago Convention Committee. One of our goals for 1992 should RAY HELGESON 1992 Convention Music Chairman be to make this the best AUSS Grand Concert ever, musically. To do so, every chorus and every director must plan to include this music into reper-toire plans for the balance of 1991 and for 1992. Hopefully, a substantial supply of most selections will already be in individual chorus libraries. Now is most definitely the time to check and see what your library yields against this program list. For the men there are a number of traditional Swed- (Continued on page 2)
