The collection is named in honor of Donald C. Frisk (1911-2010), a pastor in the Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) and professor of theology (1945-1978) and dean (1961-1967) of North Park Theological Seminary, Chicago. In memory of Donald Frisk's life and work, family and friends have established a fund that contributes to this collection. The purpose of the Frisk Collection is to bring to an online user both published and unpublished writings central to the core of the literary heritage of the ECC from the mid-nineteenth century to the present in Sweden, North America, and various parts of the world. See also the Frisk Collection of Our Covenant.
This digital collection makes accessible hard-to-find original publications that are considered to be key texts in the formation and growth of the ECC. Works cover a variety of themes such as theology, Bible, history, biography, education, spirituality, mission, and records of various institutions of the ECC. Many works were originally written in Swedish. Although some titles were eventually published in English translation, other translations have been available only as archival manuscripts. Available here are both the original Swedish works and their English translations. In addition, unpublished documents will be selectively included.
The original items digitized in this collection are cataloged in the Covenant Archives and Historical Library located at the F. M. Johnson Archives and Special Collections at North Park University in Chicago, Illinois. The Evangelical Covenant Church is a multiethnic denomination in the United States and Canada with ministries on five continents of the world. It was founded in Chicago in 1885 by Swedish immigrants.
The archives staff will add items to this collection periodically. If you would like to suggest an item for digitization, please contact the staff at email@example.com or (773) 244-6224.
