This collection contains the personal papers of Reverend Dianne E. Arakawa. It includes correspondence, brochures and collateral material, and miscellaneous ephemera. The collection dates from 1931-2008, with the bulk of materials dating between 1995 and 2008.
Reverend Dianne E. Arakawa is a minister with a long history of service to the Unitarian Universalist community. She has served since 2013 as the Senior Transitional Minister at the First Church of Christ Simsbury in Connecticut. Dianne is a graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts with a B.A. in Religion and Art, and holds a M.Div. from Harvard Divinity School and a M.A. in the History of Religions from the University of Chicago Divinity School. She has experience as both a called minister in New York and Chicago and as an intentional transitional minister in Massachusetts. Dianne served as Assistant Minister at the Community Church of New York UU from 1978-1982; Interim Minister at First Universalist Church in 1983; Minister at Congregational Universalist Church of Woodstock, IL; Interim Senior Minister at Payson Park Church, UCC from 2002-2004; Interim Senior Pastor at Congregational Christian Church, UCC from 2004-2005; Interim Senior Pastor at East Congregational Church, UCC from 2006-2008; and Transitional Senior Minister at King's Chapel from 2009-2013. She has been involved in action-oriented efforts in the space of social and racial justice in ministry and theology generally.
