The students themselves were also able to brainstorm ideas to solve such issues as the role of peacekeeping in the international community, sustainable peace and development in Africa, measures to punish international terrorists and solutions to the crisis in Central America. Working not only with their own delegation, Political Science Forum members were compelled to use teamwork and com- promises with other universities to pass resolutions in their committees. Saint Xavier University was joined by other universities as local as Loyola and University of Illinois-Champaign, to those as international as the University of Ghana. The diversity of SXU's team and of the entire conference made the American Model United Nations a fun-filled learning experience for all involved. SXU also has a start on next year's Model UN team. In the year 2000, SXU will represent the United States and South Africa at the conference. The possible topics next year are nuclear test banning, small arms control, space technology and information technology. See Model UN Page 9
